I would tell you to consider one seriously for your wife. They are incredible firearms.
typical HK, over priced guns no one buys....

Colt has been making the 1911 for over 100 years in the same price point and they still manage to make them

Leah's is the Sig P238 and she loves it. It is nice and compact, very comfortable and easy to shoot, and pretty dang accurate.

I had one as well, and the only reason I sold it is that I found myself carrying my XD40 98% of the time.

she has shot my XD9 with no problems but it seems a little large for her purse. what would be a good .380 or 9mm that is small in frame? she liked the sig p238 she held at academy but im not sure if that would be a good carry gun since she would have to release the safety if she carried it locked and loaded.
Just noticed the safety part.. It's easy man, just need to practice to get the muscle memory. Just a quick flick of the thumb.

I loved the feel of the p238. I may get one for a backup gun or summer carry.

Im thinking for her and carrying in her purse a subcompact size 9mm that will also have more magazine capacity may be better.

I did find a gun range in Tyler(45 min drive) that does rentals so we will prob go try a few out and let her decide what she wants
