How about the S&W Bodyguard, anyone have experience with it?

I just looked at the dimensions of the M&P 9 mm it has a thinner width than my .40, which was a complaint of hers. She didn't feel like she could get a solid grip on the gun because of the width. Other than that it has almost identical dimensions to my gun.

I would suggest holding one. While it may be thinner. It's a different feel than an XD or a Glock

On accident. My old GF forgot to remove her LCP from her purse and made it through screening going and returning with it along with 2 extra magazines.

haha, that's funny. My buddy forgot about his Glock 19 at LUV, he was not so lucky. Spent 14 hours in jail, several thousand in court costs and got a nice big fine for it. Plus he missed a big meeting we were going to and we had to work hard to cover for him so he did not get canned.

...to the OP, I've not met anyone that disliked the LCP. I only know a couple of females that shot it, and they all liked it. I think the best bet is to get a few rented and let her try them out. IMHO, you need to be proficient with the LCP or these other mouse guns - but it's not like you're going to be hitting 1" groups at 25 yards with them or anything.

The only complain I have about the LCP is that it has a loooong trigger pull. However, when I'm carrying that gun I KNOW that I'll only be able to use it close. Anything else is not going to work.

The LCP and other similar guns are so small and light you can forget they are in your pocket. With that said, she is a woman, so you better make sure there is a clip on the holster or something. Otherwise it is going to end up in the bottom of her damned purse and she'll have to dump it out to get her gun.

I just saw this quoted on the post prior to mine - another great option would be the LC9. A BIT big for dress slacks in the pocket, but for a purse I think it is an awesome gun.

Get her a true concealed carry purse. All she has to do is get her hand on it and aim at the target. Does it shoot through the light-ass purse? Yep. Does it go through the purse and into the 'target'? Goddamn right it does.

Thanks for all of the input. I spent some time talking to Randy tonight, very helpful. He mentioned the ruger LC9 as well and that they offer it in a 380. I am going to try and get her over to shoot smart where she can try out a few different guns before I commit to buy something and she doesn't like it

I have a Taurus TCP for a pocket carry. They work well (surprisingly failure-free) and, loaded correctly, will drop the baddest of baddies.

I picked up a 9mm XDS a few weeks ago with the hopes that the GF would like it. We finally got to the range today. It shoots really well, and after the addition of a mag extension, she likes the way it feels and shoots. So, we found her carry pistol...

I did not read the entire thread but look up The Concealment Shop. they build custom purses for CC use. We had one made for my wife. It's basically a bi-fold purse with two large pockets that saddle an internal pocket that is accessed from outside the purse and closed by a magnetic clasp. It will hold a glock 19 sized gun with ease and is very easy to slide your hand in and grab the gun....and even fire from inside the purse if it's a revolver. It wasn't cheap but we weren't going to scrimp on safety. She usually carries an XD9sc in it.
