  • Wooo Hooo! CHL

My CHL was set to expire on my birthday (Dec 30th) this year. I did the on-line renewal last Summer when the initial notice came in the mail... filled out the forms, sent in the money, sat back and waited....and waited....and waited.

After about 8 weeks, I tried to call to check on the status... got stuck in perpetual phone tree "please wait for the next representative" Hell, never did get through on the phone.

The website almost as bad showing that they received the application and money, but that was it...

After trying several times to deal with the great information vacuum that surrounds the system, I finally just gave up and hoped for the best before the expiration date.

Today, the new CHL shows up in the mail, no letter, no explanation, just the license ID card in an envelope.

I'm now good to go through 2018 . Wooo Hoo!

It's not too bad, I'm just a bit aggravated at the lack of communication or feedback....but all in all, I guess it worked out OK.

New law enacted recently exempts previous CHL holders from having to retest/re-qualify each time now... just fill out the forms, send in the money and be very patient.

          Interesting.

I renewed mine last July and the turnaround was exceptionally fast.

I hope mine doesn't take that long. I sent everthing off last week. The lady who took my prints said they have been running about four weeks for a new chl.

I have been waiting 4 weeks and no update on mine yet they say they just update status like 1 time pretty much from what I hear and about a week later you get it.

They should be quick with how much they charge for a change of address.
