  • Remington 1911 R1 .45 cal

I bought one and it has the smoothest action of any 1911 I've ever shot. It's very acurate for the price. Anybody else have a review on one?

Shouldn't reviews be looked at before the purchase?

What kind of craptastic 1911's have you shot, that Remington's feels so smooth?

I got to spend some quality time (about 400 rounds) with a new R1 enhanced. It was MUCH better than the standard R1 I have fondled. The fit and finish was good, the grips were not bad. The action and the trigger were smooth with no gritty feel. I am not a fan of fiber optic sights, but the R1E had a red f/o front sight. It was a bright day and it was very easy to get on target when drawing from the holster. All in all, it was not bad for a $800 gun.

I heard average to really good reviews on the R1. I absolutely hate the cheesy looking plastic fiber optic front sight on the R1. Makes a quality pistol look like something from Costco. Very questionable for durability. The thing that has kept me from buying the R1 is this: I figure the cost of upgrading the sights to something worth having is more than the cost of going with a better equipped 1911 from another company.

              I have a R1, it's a good middle of the road 1911.
