  • Does anyone on the board, or has anyone on the board owned an M203?

I'm curious if anyone on here has ever owned a 40mm M203. I'm seriously considering building an M16A2 w/ M203. No good reason since HE Grenades are stupid expensive and you have to be certified to store them. But, it's a good conversation piece, and they are not too expensive. And I've always thought they looked badass when I was a kid, and I want that shit. It looks like there are many 40mm grenade types available but they are expensive as shit. But, it looks like you can reload them pretty easily.

I have a 203 that I did a form 1 on. I've never shot it. Personally, other than saying you own a grenade launcher they're just not that fun without cool stuff to go with them. For $1500 I'd spend my money else where.

Reloading is hit or miss for practice rounds. Your always scrounging up components and honestly it's kind of a pain in the ass. There is a company that is selling factory seconds on gunbroker (of the 200 Rnds I've bought they look brand new) for $3 shipped. Best prices in a long while.

All that said, I'm getting rid of my grenade launchers. They're probably the least exciting and pointless gun I own.

If it's not part of another trade I'm working out. I'll give you first offer. It's an LMT barrel mount with 9" barrel.

That's awesome. How was your sight set up? Did you use the carry handle mounted M203 sight, or the pop sight on top of the handguard? I don't quite understand the difference.

Standard (back in late 90's) was the popup sights as pictured below:

I wouldn't even bother with a sight. Its all Kentucky windage, even states that in the TM.

Okay, yeah that's the one I'm going to use. I guess the carry handle sight is an older model.

and damn, that M16 is worn the fuck out.

Pretty typical service m16 wear. You'd be surprised how much slop can wear between the upper and lower receiver.
Like stated above its all Kentucky windage. You'd be surprised at how easy it is.

You only want an under the barrel m203? The old hand held version is pretty cool too.

You talking about a standalone m203 or an m79?

Funny how M79s show up in modern pictures of Iraq and Afghanistan every now and again:

Yeah just the under barrel as more of an accent to an upper. I figure it will be a pretty cool show piece to have. And if the SHTF maybe I can sneak an HE grenade case away from a guard unit in post-apocalyptic America
