Just wanted to share that once I got the riser, I broke off the bolt that mounts the riser to the rail (probably a mix of over torquing and transporting the whole assembly in a soft case). I emailed Primary Arms to see if they sold the mounting hardware seperately and this is what I got back within 24 hours:

    Hi Daniel,

Sorry for the trouble with the riser. I couldn't find the order record for the thumbscrew riser but I did find your account so I have a replacement riser headed out tomorrow. You can dispose of the broken riser as we do not need it back.

    Thanks,

    Brett

No questions asked, and I got a shipping notification today, less than 24 hours after his response.

The last one I saw was one of their gen 1 models from several years ago, it was clear, but it was heavy. Not sure if they have any new revisions out.

I have a first gen and one of the newer (2nd or 3rd gen) with long eye relief. I can't compare them to anything else, but I have used them for hunting and shooting at the range and have never had any issues with them. Certainly worth the money for me.

I was finally able to get the microdot on my VZ58 after waiting a while for a rail. If anyone ordered the special purchase version you can remove the base without damaging the epoxy plug or hardware. I heated the screws with a soldering iron to break down the thread lock and they came right out. The removable base I had left over from my MD-06 fit fine.

Hmm interesting. Does it cowitness? I've never been a fan of red dots mounting so far forward, you lose so much field of view, how bad does the front sight obstruct the view? Had a chance to shoot it?

The cowitness is super low and may actually be a problem as the emitter is in the 6 o'clock position on the SP model. I may have to switch the MD06 onto it and put the SP on the AR.

The hooded sight does not bother me just looking through it at home, but that may change once I am trying to see small stuff.

I am waiting for a replacement folding stock pivot before taking it to a range and Century is taking forever in getting it to me. If I have to wait much longer I will just find a fixed stock.

Oh, what do you know. Let me guess, the locking button was stripped and it shot off?

I had read about that happening to people. Mine stripped when I removed it in trying to diagnose the wobble. I guess they peen the threads on that pin which basically makes it a one time use deal.

Every folding stock VZ58 I had personally seen broke that piece, mine is no exception. I think I'm going to follow Alex's advice and just bolt on a fixed stock and say to hell with it.

I may end up doing the same if I can find one at a reasonable price.

I got mine for Christmas and tried it on one of Keith's ARs today. Seems pretty cool. 1/3 cowitness with 6x magnifier. Now if I just had the rest of the AR to put it on.

I got to say, I am not that impressed with the mounts at least, in this new batch. I picked up two of them this go around and mounted one up. The throw-lever lock they use is the suck. Dang thing just doesn't seem very sturdy. I compared it to the nut style like the first one I got and that one is solid.

Other than that, I am happy. I think one of the new ones will be good for my 10/22.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Well, the new batch is also not primary arm's red dots. It's another red dot made for a gun manfacturer that couldn't pay for them.

I have one of the original micro dots sold a few years ago, with the QD, and it's solid as hell. I bought one of the new ones but did not get the QD this time, I bought the thumbscrew style.

That appears to be where I went wrong.
