      yeah, more information probably would have been helpful. Right now I have a light weight barrel with iron site on it. I am wanting a heavier, low profile 16" barrel. Something like this

        Shoot, for a basic, quality barrel like that, u would look at Red X.

        Are you hunting or killin paper?

            RedXArms.com will be your least expensive option. You could go buy a AR Stoner 1:9 barrel for about $104 at Midway when they are in stock. Or, you could spend $130-$180 and get a pretty decent barrel from Red X.

            The only thing is most of the less expensive barrels (besides the finish and maker) do not have fast twist rates i.e. 1:7 and 1:8

            Though RedX does have a 20" SS BBL that has a 1:8 twist for $130 I belive. It weighs a good 2-3lbs...but it is SOLID and all RedX BBL's have target crowns.

            My guy in OK gets 1:7 16" gov profile barrel for about $175 shipped. Lightweight, and fast twist.

            Just a few options...

              Do you want a good barrel or a cheap barrel?

              Good = Daniel Defense $279
              Cheap = Midway USA $109

                Heavy and low profile don't go together.

                  Quick question and not an attempt to derail, but why do you say DD is better?

                  I bought a $180 redX 20" BBL that shot right at 1/4" at 100yrds and I saved $100. Just trying to see if my idea of good is just me looking at a different stat or something.

                  I also bought a 16" Government Profile from RedX that shot 1" at 100yrds with some half assed reloads....and that barrel only cost me $130.

                    The DD are cold hammer forged barrel assemblies. You might get 1/4" groups from a cheap barrel for a few hundered rounds but what will it group after a couple of thousand rounds. If you never plan to shoot that much you did the right thing and bought a cheaper barrel. Hell for that price if it goes south you can just buy another and still come out cheaper,lol. I'm sure there is some name brand costs cooked into the DD price.
