  • Picked up a Ruger .357 LCR today

As a Birthday gift to myself Found it on Texas Gun Trader for $390 from a Wylie Fire Department guy. Hardly shot by his wife and she changed her mind and wanted a 1911 instead. Not a great picture as I just got home (it's one he sent me) and about to fire up the grill but so far I'm digging it. It's noticeably lighter than my Taurus M85 I've been carrying while working out in the yard. He even threw in a little .357 Magnum ammo and a speed strip.

Ya I thought it was a good enough deal that I had to jump on it right away as I'd been looking at one for some time now. Can't wait to hit up the range now.

Take some 38 spec ammo with you when you go to the range. I can shoot 38 thru mine all day , but with full power 357 rounds I only get to shoot about 15 rounds before my hands start hurting .

Honest question. Can you hear parts moving behind the grip when you lightly shake the gun?

Nice deal on it by the way.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Nice find. X2 on the .38 rounds. My rossi snub .357 is fun for about 20 rounds then I switch to .38 and I can actually hit somthing. Lol.

When I saw it online I was surprised he still had it for that price. Thought about haggling a little for the price since it was a bit of a drive up to Wylie but figured I better just jump on it.

Actually I do. At first I thought it was the ammo I had in the cylinder but after just taking them out I still hear the rattle. Is it something to be concerned with? And thanks.

Ya I just want to shoot a box of .357 Magnum with it, I'll mostly be shooting .38 Special though.

Agreed. What really surprises me is the weight. I guess after carrying a couple of 1911's anything by comparison is lighter. But what surprised me is how much lighter it is even compared to my Taurus M85 revolver, I can barely tell it's there.

Can't wait to shoot it. The front sight is painted on and I'm debating about going with an XS or fiber optic sight on it next.

No not necessarily, probably still stick to my Kimber Ultra Carry for my go to CHL gun. But after my last camping trip (hot as fuck!) I was sweating a lot and carrying my UC in an IWB holster and noticed some rust on the slide were it laid up against my skin. I normally wear an inside shirt to keep it off my skin but didn't that one time. So this will be my carry gun while doing yard work and my camping gun until I get my next pistol, either an 3.8 XDm in .45 ACP or a Glock 19 or maybe a 29 in 10mm.

It has been a while since I was looking at them. I can not remember what Ruger had to say about it on the internet. I am sure a quick search will pull it up though. I don't think is something should worry you but more annoying than anything.

Quick Google search turned this up. I guess nothing to be worried about.

Like all newly manufactured Ruger revolvers, your LCR has a transfer bar safety system as part of the fire control mechanism. As a result, a hammer blow can be transmitted to the firing pin only when the trigger is pulled all the way to the rear. This is a positive internal safety feature. By design, the transfer bar is allowed some movement within the fire control mechanism so that trigger pull is not affected. Due to this necessary "play" in the transfer bar, a shooter will sometimes hear the transfer bar "rattle" when the revolver is shaken. This rattle caused by the play in the transfer bar is completely normal in the LCR.

                              You got a great deal!

I have the .38 version and I love it. It is a snappy little bastard though. I'd be curious to hear what it's like with .357.
