  • Interesting Numbers

A dealer on another board posted these numbers after a 6 hour meeting with Seattle/Portland ATF.

An agent gave us a pretty specific answer. In 2005 there were approx. 134,000 transfer requests.
For the 2013 tax year, there were 1.1 MILLION transfer requests

public has become more informed on NFA that coupled with the legalization of suppressors for hunting in a bunch of states equals more transfers I would have figured more than 1.1 million requests personally

1.1 million is a fuckton for a class of weapons that the majority of the public thinks is absolutely illegal to own.

Not to mention when you cut out big population states like California and New York.

I always thought California had the most NFA weapons.

Maybe in prop armories and as relics of the past (before Roberti-Roos and all that crap started). To my knowledge only AOWs are transferable for all intents and purposes.

"Possession of automatic weapons or short-barreled shotguns or rifles prohibited without DOJ "Dangerous Weapons Permit"; permission rarely granted outside of film industry. Suppressors (aka silencers) prohibited. Destructive devices are prohibited unless are designated as curios & relics, in which case a collectors permit can be obtained. The only AOW's that are permitted are smoothbore pistols and firearms with a combination of a smoothbore and rifle barrel."
