bought a cheap red dot for my AR15

So I bought a cheap red dot for my AR. Is it suppose to work with the front sight post? I'll probably be taking it in to Bass Pro to get it bore sighted this weekend.

Some do, some do not. Depends if it's co-witnessed or not. It doesn't "work" with the front post, just with the iron sights as a whole for a back up. What'd you get?

I hope it was a Primary Arms. Absolute best bang for the buck... they do have red dots that have absolute co witness mounts in case a battery fails.

When mounted, it sits up high enough that it looks like it'll clear the front sight when looking through it. I'm hoping the front sight isn't going to get in the way.

If the optic is "high", then you probably have 1/3 co-witness. See image example:

I bought a used endpoint from eBay an M-2. About 4-5 years ago For like $250. And I will not have anything Less. Still running off the factory used Battery. And I've been using the shit out of it.

hehehe....OP, have you considered a primary arms dot or Vortex? Not very pricey and you'll get much better quality compared to a BSA.
