Bloomberg's gun ban group supported by local mayors

I guess my question is, what is an illegal gun? Are we sure there are any illegal guns? There are people who cannot legally posses guns, but that does not make the gun illegal. Wouldn't "Mayors Against Unlawful Possesion of a Firearm" make more sense? They claim to not be anti-gun after all,lol.
