  • Gun Owners Sometimes

    So I guess in Texas the 2nd Sunday of every month is open carry your rifle day around the town in large groups. Some talk sensible, others just seem out there.

    Anyways most of their sites they advertise talk about registration leads to confiscation. Then 90% of them want to know who will sign off on NFA or who will do a trust.

    Sincerely,

    Confused on a boring Saturday staying away from a house remodel at a breakfast shop.

    I have been confused about that as well. If you are worried about mandated registration leading to confiscation, why would you buy items that require registration?
    I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

        And I get the whole "can carry a rifle down the street" thing. And I get a semi auto RPK is a rifle, but are you just trying to scare people? I'm not worried about it, but I know lots of others that being scared would be worse than pushing your movement.

          Being a legal act and a wise one are not always the same.

            I'm mostly talking out of my ass as I've never looked it up... But I always heard it was only legal to open carry a long gun in Texas if it doesn't incite panic.

            Any truth to this?

                Chapter 42 Texas Penal Code

                (7) discharges a firearm in a public place other than a public road or a sport shooting range, as defined by Section 250.001, Local Government Code;
                (8) displays a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner calculated to alarm;
                (9) discharges a firearm on or across a public road;

                  I'm totally pro 2nd amendment. I'm also pro open carry. But honestly in the current political climate and with the law written the way it is, this sounds like a bad idea. Phrases like "manner calculated to alarm" are far too grey for my tastes. For that reason, I completely avoid events like these.

                    Sounds like you are setting yourself up for trouble if you open carry a long gun.

                      I agree. It is like they write the law hopeing that you will do it, but word it so they can fuck you over.
