  • Dove season coming up

Where will you be hunting? Anyone noticed any good activity? I'm going to check out a season lease somewhere near Celina this weekend. It's still pretty far from me (GP) so I don't know if I'll actually get on it.

Anyone know of any day hunts/leases that aren't too far from Grand Prairie?

I am counting the days myself, hope I find a place in Stephenville to hunt this year. I still have shells left from the last two seasons that I need to use before they get to old.

yeah...the ones that are perched on your roof....just looking at you. Their day will come.

I used these guys about three years ago. It was a pretty good setup. They had two round bales of hay at each persons station and they were scattered across a field with plenty of sunflower. Not really close by. I'd go back but the buddy of mine that I'm hunting wants a "kids hunt free" type place. Only drawback is that the nearest hotel is back in Wichita Falls or Henrietta.

I thought that address looked familiar it's up here in my area. I hunt about 20-30 miles north of there.

what day does season open for you guys? Its sept 1st here and man i wish it was atleast a week sooner. By the time season opens we can have a ton and then get a cold snap and they are gone.

Some years its limit out in no time. Others its 2-3 birds a day.

Ours starts the same. It gets kinda wild the first week or so then calls down until a front pushes in some of the bigger birds from up north. That being said I've seen a ton of white wings lately in the area I hunt.

I've usually only hunted opening day. I'll be getting on this lease so it'll be interesting to see when a north cold snap pushes the birds south.

This is my girlfriends parents place that's SW of Dallas. The total property is 80 acres. The red and blue is open area for dove and the blue box is where the sunflowers are. I went down this weekend and sunflowers are already 2 feet tall.

                            Getting closer

I've been noticing a lot more of the Eurasian Doves around Forney, you can shoot them year round

Glorified pigeons, but they do make for good practice.
