They do a number on the Mourning Doves, taking over their nest and destroying eggs.

We have a stock tank in the front yard, water level is low but so far there's plenty to bring some birds in. Of course the way it usually works here, the day before the season opens it'll rain and every cow track in the area will be holding water

what kind of deal are you looking for? i pay just over $100 for 400 shells of federal at dicks when i dont feel like loading.

That's not too bad, still more than I typically pay. Last time I bought Federal Top Gun boxes at Dicks they were $5 a box. Last year I paid about $115 before tax for 500 rounds, think it was $4.50 a box at Bass Pro for Remington Gun Club. Who knows if they'll be that cheap this year. And it doesn't have to be labeled dove load, target shells work just as well. I plan to pick up 1000 rounds to last me through the next 6 months or so, the cheaper the better. Guess I'll have to just go into each store because palces seem to have better deals in store than on their site.

I've been buying them for $7.xx a box at Bass Pro. I figured the $5.xx per box days were long gone.

couple more days fellas. Some dove are starting to come around again. Might actually have something to shoot at.

Oh yeah, it's been a very mild summer, a good amount of rain... sunflowers at the lease are 4' tall I'm told.

A buddy of mine went to scout the fields this past week and found they had already been harvested...which is to be expected but the dang tractors did such a good job, there is literally NO wheat or milo left on the ground.

My father in law has been out every morning this week for an hour and hasn't seen a single dove come through.

I'm covered up with white wings right now. I'm a little worried my 20gauge with 7/8 oz loads of number 8 shot might not fair to well.
