I never split the pelvic bone but I also take mine to a processor too.

Get the Work Sharp and you won't have to worry a out sending them back to be sharpened...
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

That looks a lot like our old survival knives except ours had leather handle on it. I'll see if I can dig one up

Here is my hunting setup, Knives of Alaska - Bush Camp and Knives of Alaska - Light Hunter (the cleaver and the small skinning knife).

I love these knives, they use D2 steel and they are well designed, HOWEVER the Light Hunter set came fairly dull IMO and I had to put a new edge on them both. I should have sent them back or contacted customer service but never did just took care of it. I love all three though and they come in nice leather sheaths

                  I like those.

My favorite knife i use on deer now is a $13.00 pos winchester from the local farm store. I did get some older cabelas knives that where discontinued years back.

As it sits right now ive prob got 12-16 knives for skinning and processing most of them semi expensive. I can put a wicked edge on those winchesters tho and i dont worrie to much about loosing it.
