  • 380 or 9mm for wife's CCW?

So, I'm torn, 380 or 9mm for the wife? I'm leaning towards 9mm so that we can share ammo but the size of a 9mm pistol is kind of big for my wife as is the recoil.....
    Thoughts?

Depends on the gun really. My sister has one of the Taurus .380 pocket pistols and it's a snappy little bastard. It's actually more difficult to hold on to and control than my Taurus Mil Pro .40. I would say go for the 9mm.

The Sig P238 is a .380 and a nice little shooter. I shot the one CJ bought for his wife.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

When I have women over to shoot guns at my place, they always go for my S&W Bodyguard 380.

There's some good pocket pistol options in each caliber. For my money thr LC9 is the best option though I really like the Sig P238.

Have you considered a snub nose .38?

Darren, hit me up next time you take her to shoot, Ill let you borrow my tcp. My wife had never shot before and was doing some great groupings with it. I really like shooting it too.

I think it depends on the woman. I have seen women not be able to rack the slide back on a semi auto pistol and I have seen other women shoot a 12 gauge all day long

Another vote for Sig P238. This is what my wife carries and she loves it. The P238 is the softest shooting pocket sized .380 period. It's very accurate and the slide is extremely easy to rack. It's important that she practices manipulating the safety so that it's second nature when carrying it. Having both a .380 and 9mm can actually be good during times like these when ammo is hard to find.

my old lady shoots 45 acp just fine. Let her decide what she wants. Go rent what your looking at, she will be more confident in her decision.

A lot of women don't seem to like revolvers as they have "no safety".

Is she going to actually conceal it on her body or throw it in her purse? I have a Bersa .380 and Kimber .45 UCII. She prefers to shoot the .45 a little more. As stated above, she's a little hesitant to rack the slide. She doesn't carry yet so as far as actually carrying, idk.

Go to a store and let her pick what she wants. Make sure the gun is comfortable for her AND that she can actually pull the slide back on her own.

Depending on where she will carry the gun should also point you to SA only, DA only or combo SA/DA.

A purse only gun should be a DA type of gun.

                              That was a 938, the 9mm. I would recommend a 938 over a 238.
