If it wasn't finals week I would do it for you. Four hours is nothing to teach in an evening.
This guy! I did mine (new process) with him on his first class and was well worth the drive for me.. Would do a renewal with him and also recommend others.
The third renewal I didn't...just fingerprints, photograph, and fee. I am soon going to renew for the fourth time and must attend an abbreviated classroom session and re-qualify on the range. The latest State regs require attendance at such a "continuing education" class once every ten years.
No more renewal classes for Texas CHL after September 1st (assuming Perry signs it, which I would expect). HB 48 has passed house and senate. You just have to complete your renewal application, pay your fee, and acknowledge that you have read a form on deadly force (that they will provide). All has to be done prior to your current license expiring though, so if yours does before 9/1 you're SOL.
HB 700 For open carry is still in committee, so it looks like it won't pass again. Although I probably would never open carry, I am not opposed to people exercising that right.
