Wouldn't pawning NFA items be a transfer?

That's a damn good idea. If I lived in an apartment and had no friends or family in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to this. I'll have to remember this.

I was not including his NFA items in that.

I know to some what I want to do with my firearms seems a bit much, but I am willing to take extra steps to secure my guns. I live in a nice neighborhood and have good relations with my neighbors that will watch my house while I'm gone, but to satisfy my worries I'd rather they be kept in a place with a much better security in place. I would be distraught if a stolen firearm of mine was used in a homocide or used against LEO's. Don't want that on my conscience.

I'm gonna ask Chuck at Ross Gunworks if he will hold them. I'm sure he would since I bought them through him.

It's still a transfer even if he is an SOT. I believe the only way he hold an item is if he is servicing it. Anyone want to confirm that?

If you have it in a locked case that you only have access to, you can store it anywhere you want.
