I went into my favorite gun shop again today, and they have Sig gas-piston .308 rifles in stock.

I really like lever guns, especially suppressed. They are an awesome choice for short range hog hunting if you're only after meat. But if your objective is eradicating a population, you really want a low recoil semi auto. I usually see a group of 8+ hogs whenever I take one.

We (wife and I ) took two small hogs with .40 cal pistols on Sunday night. Gave a verbal 1-2-3 count and fired at the same time. Damn if she didn't drop hers where it stood. I had to put a second round into mine. Even recovered a mushroomed slug when we butchered them.

I'd prefer my AK or anything in 300 Blackout. I sure like my Wicked Hunting Lights green led spotlight on whatever I'm shooting.

Thanks for the info that is good to know, didn't think they would be readily available in B&M stores.

I'm still keeping my eye out. Hoping to get one closer to $1,000 if possible but I saw a collapsible stock version (that HK L shaped stock) that I am really liking that is listed for $1500.

Not counting ammo, I've got $108.25 in an SKS that I bought brand new. It'll drop the piggies pretty good. I use to use it exclusively for deer hunting, iron sights and all. I never had a shot that was more than 50 yards, so optics weren't necessary. Now it just sits there in a pile of molten metal from that welding accident.

I'd just get a regular one, and buy a collapsible/folding stock. Fun fact, though, those stock setups don't have much room for a buffer, so they hammer pretty hard. If you can get away with a folding stock, it seems advisable. The wood stocked model at my gun store is $1299 (asking price). You may be able to get them down, if you buy a few extra mags from them, and buy ammo. I don't know how willing you guys are to trek down here, though. There's BBQ, FWIW.
