Either one of those would be my choice, I think I only have about $1200 total in my LR308 with a VX1 on it.

I would say it depends on what type of hunting you plan on doing. If walking around or night hunting a semi auto that isn't overly heavy is nice. Although when I try to walk up on pigs in brush I prefer a large bore pistol. If hunting from a stand I prefer a nice sturdy bolt action either in 22-250 or occasionally 30-06 to get the two or three for one shot.
