  • Post up old ammo prices....

Here's a 50 round box of Federal .22 LR for a reasonable 98 cents! That's less than 2 cents per round!

Compare that to Walmart's price of $21.96 for 550 rounds (almost 4 cents a round).

This was 11 years ago this month....

Post up your old ammo price stickers!

Wish I could find the add for 7.62x51 for $89/1k. Those were the days of pallet shipments.

In high school (mid 80's) it was $5.96.

I'm sure when Vertnut was in high school, it was under $3.00!

I meant what you actually have! Not what you can find on the web before you were born!

Hell, in the early 90's, 5.56/.223 was $89/1,000 and 7.62x39 was $69/1,000. And that was brass cased/reloadable!

Not exactly all ammo but I have a good bit of old stuff some was purchased a bit before my time but most was when I was pretty young.

Here are some various primers from Gibson's ( a sporting goods store that was local when I was younger) also used to have a bunch of old shotgun stuff from there but most of it has been tossed.

Here is some ammo the 06' from Kmart for $4.88 back when Kmart still sold guns and ammo and some 22-250 from a gun store for $3.18

I posted this pick a while back but some dies from around 1967, too bad dies still aren't this cheap.

For both of you, there is still a Gibson's in Weatherford. They still sell guns, ammo, clothes, and hardware.

I figured there would be a few that had never heard of it. We had two while growing up, I loved going I usually got a new fishing lure or box of 22 shells, although it usually came with the price of carrying a bag of 7 1/2 shot around. The last one even remotely close was in Lawton and I think it closed shop about 10 years back.

                      Still one in Kerrville, too.

Me and my buddies used to go to Gibsons on Camp Wisdom in Dville all the time to buy BB gun stuff but the one on Hampton in Desoto was a LOT nicer. I miss old stores like Gibsons, Best Products, and Montgomery Wards.
