No clue, but isn't 411.205 specifically defined?

The Penal Code has a catch all for offenses that are not defined as having a punishment, I figured there would be one for the Government Code as well. Lawmakers have a tendency to play the CYA game.

When I get the inkling to look, I'll have a see.

In the meantime, I would still tell the officer. You know how frail their egos are.

Driver: *fails to mention has CHL* because he knows there is no punishment.

Officer: *sees that the driver failed to mention CHL, so instead of a warning for the speeding, issues the ticket for speeding, expired inspection sticker, and no turn signal* while saying "Please sign here, this is not an admission of guilt, only a promise to appear....."

Discretion goes a long way, just like courtesy....

Very good topic. I always worried about this myself when I drove my truck to the range and had some firearms in the back seat.

I am still a bit curious on the exact letter of the law on that myself. I was pulled over recently after a day of shooting. The range bag (http://www.hqcompany.com/library/GI_DUFFLE_BAG.jpg) in the back seat of the truck contained six long guns with two buttstocks showing and two pistols. When asked if we had any weapons in the vehicle I responded, "yes, several rifles in the back". The officer stated that rather than remove all of them he would be more comfortable with us standing at the rear of the truck for the duration of the stop. He completed his checks and we were free to go with no more mention of it.

There's nothing in the penal code about having to conceal long guns, only handguns.

The only laws on regards to concealing of firearms is handguns.

Try going to the river in a white 1977 Chevy K20 with about 20 firearms and 8,000 rounds of ammo!

I was going down to the river years ago and as I pulled off the the Farm to Market road, I got stopped by a county sheriff. I badged him as he walked up, because we were loaded for bear in the cab (with the rest in the bed) and the last thing I wanted was for him to walk up and shit his pants.

He checked us out, and before leaving, I asked him why he stopped me. He gave me the lamest excuse ever "we've been having some burglaries"....

Yea, like my 1977 K20 with a 4" lift and 33" Swamper Boggers matched the description of ANY burglary suspect

You ought to have them walk up and the the barrel of a rifle laying across the console. City cops usually get nervous county guys usually don't care.

You just cannot do it "intentionally" which leaves that open to officer discretion.

That's my Glock box in my F150. I just took a pic for illustration purposes.
That's all well and good. My take is without any context, the question is too open ended.
