Hiding your guns

Here's a little update. We're still working on furniture. It seems like every couple weeks we make changes to improve our design and options for storage. As of right now, I don't have a set date for completion on everything, but I'll let you know what all we're offering when we do finish.

Here's a picture of my headboard that's been stained. We built another one that we're working on the design for. This is also our first design for night stands. I'll post a picture of them open when I get home.

My only comment is if you're making it for the general public, wouldn't you want to pegboard (or similar pre-punching) the backing so people can custom the mounts for their firearms?

That was my first idea and the problem we found is their length, most need to be cut down, and alot of the hooks we've found are flimsy. The wood mounts can be custom made to better fit the firearm, you can literally put them anywhere you want, and we fit them to about anything.

Right now we have an issue with the headboard being front heavy, even being bolted to a bed frame, it still tends to lean forward a little.

Line the inside with cow skin vs the green felt and you'll really have something then

That's a much better idea. I don't care for the felt but that's all we had at the time. I've thought about stretching an American flag out inside.

Hmmm. Maybe stick an eyebolt out the back near the bottom, hang a cable off it and drop a counter weight on that? Something to shift the CG. Or just anchor the headboard to the wall.

Yeah, we're still working on figuring that part out. All of this stuff is made from pine and as you know, pine is a really soft wood, tends to warp easily. I'm wondering if it's going to want to warp with all the weight that's causing it to lean.

Here's what the night stand/end table looks like. So far we have 2 ideas for hidden compartments with this.


Simple inlays will probably be optional, most likely a Texas star, possibly the shape of Texas. Several different handles will be available when we're done.




Biggest thing I want to change here is the amount of drawer space, it's not a little but it's not a lot either.




As of right now, this is a tight squeeze for a gun that has a wide grip. I have a feeling that some of the Sig Sauers wouldn't fit where the green felt is. But there is storage all the way around.




Boxes of ammo fit perfectly behind the center and pistol mags fit perfectly to the left and right.

Any idea on cost? Also, thoughts on something a bit less "rustic" looking? I like the idea but that just wouldn't go well w/ my wife's decor. Good look'n piece and well executed though!

These pieces were made with scrap wood my girlfriends dad had in his shop. My entire goal is to have several configurations for someone to pick from for each piece of furniture. The rustic look is just what we wanted. When everything is finished I'll have 4-5 different stains for someone to pick from with an option for 1-3 coats of stain on each piece. I'll have pictures of what everything looks like with 1, 2, and 3 coats. As I said before, I'll keep you guys up to date with all this. No pricing yet, we still have a long ways to go and all this is being done in our spare time as of right now.
