  • Misaligned gas key

I received a 6.8 BCG from PSA to finish my build and the BCG would not go all the way into the receiver.
I removed the bolt and it still would not go the last inch so I figured there was an alignment issue with the gas tube and key.
I took the 5.56 BCG out of my Daniel Defense AR and removed the bolt. The carrier goes all the way into the receiver just fine, so it looks like the gas key on the PSA carrier is what is misaligned.
Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to send the BCG back to PSA?

I will be calling PSA later today. It's just annoying because I've been waiting since January to find a 6.8 BCG and have been wanting to go kill some hogs with this thing.
They sold out of them within an hour when they had them the other day so that's why I'm reluctant to just send this one back since they wouldn't have a replacement to ship me.
I do have another spare 5.56 BCG that I could swap the 6.8 bolt into for now.
I was just trying to figure out if I can fix this one. As far as I could tell from searching the web, when you put the gas key on the carrier you just torque the screws and stake it; there is nothing to do as far as aligning things. That would seem to indicate that either the gas key or the carrier is actually out of spec. I had considered just getting another gas key and new screws and seeing if that fixes it.
Most of the info I find is about adjusting the gas tube, which I don't want to do since it doesn't seem to be misaligned based on trying my other bolt carrier.

If it's staked, I'd rather let the manufacturer fix it.

Well, I spoke with PSA customer service and they asked me to send them an e-mail describing my problem. Trying to get them to let me just send the carrier back for them to fix or replace so I can go shoot this damn 6.8 finally.
