I'm going to use Colt as an example. They announced shortly after state laws changed. I personally believe Magpul did this as a publicity stunt. They filed for their Texas tax/business permits nearly 6 months ago. We can all theorize, but I'm pretty damn confident that is the reason for all of this drama.
Manufacturing is moving 80 miles north of their current location. I doubt they'll lose much on the manufacturing skills set.

The corporate move to Texas, I'd expect re-lo packages for all those folks. Hopefully a few won't take it.

Yeah I'm sure most of the corporate employees are going to relocate. It appears they will be moving to north texas, which pretty much means they are going to be local. I would be willing to be a large amount of the line workers are not going to move, changing states, taxes, moving to a new place, if it was in the same state 80 miles away, sure. And last time I checked basic line worker/manufacturer pay rates are just a little above minimum wage.

Since they are a plastic manufacturer, my own experience with them is their climate greatly affects their production times and methods. So staying close to where they were is probably reflective of that. That's good they were able to keep them somewhat close.

They're going from Erie, CO to Cheyenne, WY. Cheyenne is barely 10 miles inside of WY. I'm sure everybody related to that move would stay in CO.

Read this yesterday and thought I would share.

Austin, TX – Magpul Industries today announced the following facility updates:

Magpul’s corporate headquarters has moved to Texas and is located at 8226 Bee Caves Road, Austin, TX 78746. This property was placed under contract in March 2014 and closed in November 2014. During this acquisition period, Magpul’s corporate headquarter functions were transitioned to a temporary facility in Texas to facilitate the final corporate relocation.

Magpul’s Wyoming manufacturing and distribution center will open in January 2015 and is located at 7201 Commerce Circle, Cheyenne, WY 82007. A 50,000 sqft addition is scheduled to be completed in December 2014 and Magpul manufacturing and distribution functions will be transitioned to the 185,000 sqft facility beginning on January 12, 2015. All of Magpul’s existing Colorado facilities will close during the first quarter of 2015. Magpul will open a single administrative location in Colorado to support the relocation and this site will then serve as a regional support office.

“These new facilities in Texas and Wyoming immediately enhance and expand the company’s business operations,” says Duane Liptak, Director of Product Management and Marketing for Magpul Industries. “Magpul remains committed to completing the final phases of this transition without disruption to our customers and business partners.

(I'll still troll to see if they're hiring, though, when the move happens).

I thought the same, but having Magpul there is like having a lobbyist there for normal gun folks. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

I would like to think they're going to have a range nearby for product testing and their Magpul Dynamics.

Magpul is seeking a Industrial Designer in Austin.

I would apply but I dont have a BS/MS degree in Industrial Design or 5 years of industrial design

                                More interesting is that :
"must have the ability to work as part of a team devoted to bringing innovative new products to market within the growing product portfolio dedicated to the lifestyle products category. ... Projects include but are not limited to protective mobile phone cases; mechanical hardware associated with backpacks, bags and other textile storage products; packaging related initiatives and other mechanical oriented products within the lifestyle product category."
