LCP vs TCP, WTF?

When I bought my TCP they were $19 different at academy. I just popped it up and saw that they are over $100 different in price, the LCP being $319 to the TCP's $199.

What the hell makes one $120 higher than the other, the brand name? Ruger not producing enough? Help me understand.

Maybe Taurus intended it to be a much less expensive alternative altogether? I paid $260 for mine last year and still no problems. If it shoots the same, I'd love to have paid $199.
