  • Deer sheds.

Anyone who has sheds they do not want please let me know.

The dog and i went out today and found three. She found one all by herself, and im a proud papa. She is just over a year and ive been training her for this. Its only her 2nd trip out ever in the field.

I found this one, but didnt touch it and let the dog find it.

And the one she found all be herself.

I love those smart dogs that wil sit and wait for you to tell her to do something like she is in the picture. It's just a shame they are limited to around 14 years old. It hurts so bad when they are gone.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

Very nice I'd love to take my boys out shed hunting but i fear the hound would come out and they would be gone at the sight/sent of something new.

We have thought about training my puppy to hunt sheds. How do you go about doing that?

i started my pup out with the bill hillman puppy dvd.

For the basics like sit, down, you get the idea. She has had deer sheds as her main toy since she was 7 weeks old. She is the smartest dog ive ever owned. She knows her toys by name, and so on.

In the field i just say wheres the bone penny, wheres the bone. Same thing i do in the house.

As far as them running off, i have a shock coller on her, and have only had to use it once. She rarely gets 30 yards away from me, but i always make sure i can see her. Mine i think has a half mile range, but you can get them with longer ranges, or even gps signals.

I made it, so in her mind, there is nothing better than a deer antler.

          first day home.
