  • AR lower receiver build tools?

I have a few receivers now, and I managed to get LPKs for a couple as well. I was going to assemble them, but I am not exactly sure what tools will be needed.

Could we make a list or any post links to kits or various tools that are necessary and also tools that are helpful but not necessary. I know we have a lot of people who have built, so it is time to share the knowledge!

This and either an allen wrench or big flathead to put the grip on (varies by which grip or kit you have).

        Punch pin (3/32)
a small plastic/rubber tipped hammer, to hammer in the pins and it wont scar up the receiver if you miss hammering the punch
small allen wrench, just one small enough to go though the hole of the clevis pin....and
a clevis pin, 1/4"x2" (for the front spring/detent)you can get that at home depot/lowes hardware section
a plastic grocery sack...use this so the detent pin doesnt blast into oblivion
        CASTLE NUT WRENCH
thick rubberband, holds the bolt release while you pin it
a small block of wood (1"x4" or so) scrap wood or towel. us this to put underneath the receiver and the work surface, and keep the receiver level when hammering the trigger guard roll pin.
good pair of needle nose with masking tape on the ends, again so you dont scar up the receiver

i suggest a tek matt if you are going to be doing this a few times.

1 punch, razor blade, and a hammer. If you're good all you need is a hammer.

Purchase decent punches if you plan to build out a few. The cheapy gun show special punch kits suck balls.

I like the cheap punch set that comes with the cheesy little hammer and wooden tray.

I use a pair of vise grips in a few places to "press" pins vs hammering. The trigger guard is a good example.

For front detent I use the 1/4" clevis trick.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I just used an allen wrench and a razor blade to accomplish the same thing.

This is the punch set I picked up to assemble mine.
