I did ok, I have some bad habits I'm working on and really need to practice my mag changes to get more speed. I bought my Glock 34 (first glock for me to own) in Dec and this was my 2nd time shooting it so some of the things I need to work on revolves around that.

Get a Dawson fiber optic front sight on that thing. Makes a huge difference if you have light from above! I love mine but I put a Lone Wolf threaded barrel and a compensator on it as I build it towards an open gun. With the compensator, brass falls down my hand instead of flying so I need to work on the spring weight or just up the load a little.

You will love that 34 for competitions. Great gun!

So I went and shot IDPA 2 weeks ago with DAPS (dallaspistol.com) at Elm Fork and actually had a pretty damn good time. I started shooting IDPA in 2005 and then USPSA in 2007 and quit shooting IDPA at the end of 07, and stopped shooting competitively in 2009 after I had the first kid and got back into motorcycles and stuff. Fast forward to January this year and I have shot 2 USPSA matches and last night was my second IDPA match for 4 total matches since 09.

2 Weeks ago I placed 22nd out of 52 shooters overall in IDPA. I had 1 procedural penalty (they changed the rule stating ALL reloads must be done stationary and you can't reload on the move at all behind cover), 1 hit on non-threat, and 1 FTN (2 3-point down hits). So overall I was pretty happy, and without those three things and if just one of the 3 down hits on the FTN had been a 1 down and had I not shot the no-shoot and no procedural I'd have gotten 7th overall so I was feeling pretty good about it.

Last night I went and shot again. I had a clean match with no penalties, no hit on non-threat, just raw time and 25 points down. I got 4th overall out of 49 shooters and 1st in ESP by like 9 seconds.

It felt really good to get confused looks from other shooters who had been out there for years and have no clue who I am when I was smoking through the stages. Now I just need to find a classifier match so I'm no longer UC.

Niiice. I'm unsure about adding aftermarket components, I want to stay in a stock class for now until I'm actually competitive..

That's awesome! You should come out next Thursday for TCS, same place.

I'm going to start shooting my AR there too. They let the pistol guys go first, then you can shoot carbine in addition at the end of the match.

I might have to switch to thursdays for a while, My oldest plays baseball and I'm one of the coaches. Practices are changing this week from tuesday/thursday to tuesday/wednesday. So for the next few months I don't know that I'll get to shoot wednesday nights much.

I have to get back out there and shoot. It sucks right now because I have class this semester on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

They stopped the Texas Combat Shooters bi-monthly (Thursdays) comp.

I see DAPS is still happening, are they pretty strict there? I enjoy the lax nature of the TCS rules.

Boomhauer, you know they closed TCS? You going to try DAPs? I've shot with you a couple of times at TCS, found out after someone posted your pic in another thread.

I haven't shot in a few months, aside from hating winter and cold weather in general, work and personal life have been keeping me extremely busy. Hopefully I'll be able to get back out there more this summer.
