Many moons ago a girl stepped onto the range with a H&K and everyone went ooh and aah over it. Well until she went to shoot it that is. Gun went back to the factory after it constantly wouldn't fire.
My buddy swore up and down 1911s were the best gun ever produced. Then he bought a Kimber for his new duty weapon after carrying a Sig for years and the Kimber had a ton of issues and got sent back twice and then sold finally. He is now carrying a SIG.
I have seen a bazillion rounds thru Sig 226's and not one issue other then one guy had the plastic guide rod and it broke. Went to metal and never another issue. Now we carry 220 Sigs and mine did not like the ten round mags I was using to qualify with. They would not feed with ten rounds and one in the chamber but no issues with 9. In the Sigs defense it is about 10 years old or more and has been very well used. We have new ones coming but the little gun scare has delayed them a bit.
I pocket carried a Bersa 380 for years and not one issue even if it was not cleaned and right out of my pocket. Bought a new CC version and it was perfect until the last time I went to the range. Turns out the trigger return spring had slipped off its perch. Then my moms new one did not like certain types of ammo.
Last time at the range I watched an officers Glock constantly have problems. This was the first time really I had heard of one being an issue. It was some kind of pin that was worn out in the side of it.
My last department we went from Sigs to M&P .40s. Even though it was a learning curve I can honestly say I never saw the M&P have a issue. Of course they did not have near the rounds thru them.
I have been hearing the new Keltecs were greatly improved and thought about picking one up again. Then the other day a guy we deal with all the time told me after 200 rounds his blew up the barrel.
I am a big Sig fan but I can shoot fairly decent with a Glock and M&P. Hell my new pocket gun until my P290 comes in is a P250 in the .40 flavor. I put 200 rounds thru it the other day with no issue on my part. My buddy had the slide lock back on him once. Couldn't tell if his thumb was riding the slide or he limp wristed it but I was kind of surprised. Gun is very accurate though.
So I guess what I am saying is that all guns can have issues. Choose what you like and learn to clear malfunctions.
