  • Canadian Mag Tricks

The boys in Canada have developed a few tricks for skirting their 5 round magazine limit on rifles, 10 for pistols that I thought were interesting. The law up there states that if the magazine is legal, you can use it for whatever. So, people use 10 round AR Pistol magazines in their rifles... but it doesnt stop there.

    A 10 round AR .458 Socom magazine holds 30 rounds of 5.56

A Beretta 96 .40 magazine holds 14 rounds of 9mm (this is why the beretta cx4 is a super popular gun in Canada).

So, this is at least kind of comforting if there is a magazine limitation. All AR pattern magazines will then become ".458 Socom" magazines.

Unless they limit the amount of rounds to be loaded in a magazine. It can be easy to word it in a way that would make it illegal. Hopefully they aren't that smart but who knows.

Sure, but the fact of the matter is that they would be available.

Magazine "rebuild kits" are legal in California and everyone has them, just like they have Mag Magnets put away.

I also remember "Battlefield Replicas". It was a USGI-like mag that only held 10 rounds, but looked liked the 30 rounder...you could pry open the bottom, then snap off the plug and reassemble. I remember doing 100s of those as a teen with my dad....saying that outloud makes me question my childhood, lol...

The last magazine ban restricted normal capacity magazines to military and LE. What is to stop a state from telling it's citizen to drop their names into the hat for a state selective service registry and passing a law saying the every person who did that is now a state reserve military force and are allowed to posses and purchase normal magazines?

Not too many I would guess. The bitch was not being able to buy the things.

Had a guy try and get me to sell him a few pmags as "parts kits" to California... wasnt worth the risk in my eyes.
