I am a huge pussy when it comes to certain things. I hate wasps. I scream like a lady whenever one does a fly-by or is wanting to sting. This, even after being around radio and TV towers for years.
I can understand your defensiveness. Most always those who make such snotty replies have no clue and aren't smart enough to see it being wrong. All I can do is try. As far as posting questions, I only became interested in scopes very recently. Fortunately I have a few friends who are all about what to use and why therefore when the time comes I can always use them as a source. I just like browsing this section to see what's up, and to call those who ask a basic question and then become a mouthy fuck when someone is simply trying to help out. So why not man up, apologize to Yale for being a mouthy fuck and move on?

I'm going to say, "go fuck yourself," now, and then I'm going to give you a nickel's worth of free advice. Go fuck yourself. That said, go look at scopes you feel comfortable looking through (cause the least noticeable amount of eye strain) and seem to have a good reputation. Once more for good measure: die in a fire.
And this is why you don't ask for input on anything in particular on this forum. I'll keep my questions to broad general unassuming ones from now on. That way, the responses I get might have something to do with what I asked..."Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Honestly man, I'm just trying to warn you off buying a target specific model for that distance, if big boy glass really isn't in your budget. You'll end up paying a premium for features you don't need. You need good glass at 300yds and under more than anything. Something to consider might be googling who has a good customer service reputation, and factoring that into the equation. Discount glass might look ok, but if you can't get it fixed under warranty, there isn't much point in shelling out for it in the first place. Good luck.
FWIW, these five are the only brands you posted that I would consider spending money on:
Vortex
Leupold
Bushnell
Nikon

I'm becoming less and less impressed by Leupold with every passing year. For $400 you are well below where must of the real high quality glass starts to show up. That's usually around $800. I know I was told that many years ago and dismissed it, but after going through a lot of scopes it was definitely true. Nikon makes good glass but has little internal adjustment (fine if you're not shooting over 500 yards), Millet makes good low magnification glass, Vortex makes good stuff around $800, Bushnell elite series (like the 4200) are good glass. For your price range I would search out a used Bushnell 4200 elite."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler
