  • Target Scopes

Planning on buying another target rifle sometime soon, not sure on caliber yet, but i'm trying to narrow down a scope for the rifle. Now, I'm not a competition shooter and won't be, this is just another fun range toy.

I've used quite a few different brands of scopes over the years,
    Vortex
    Leupold
    Simmons
    Bushnell
    Barska
    Nikon
    NCStar
    BSA
    Cabelas
and some I'm sure I'm not remembering. Was thinking of trying one that I haven't used before. Looking to stay under $400.

Any of you have or have used any of the following brands/models of scopes?
What did you like or dislike about them?
Any other brands/models I should look at?

    Millet: TRS or LRS
Hawke Sport Optics: Not sure on Model, just wondering how the quality and clarity are.
    Konus: Not sure on Model.

TIA for any help or insight.

I have a Millet TRS-1 on my .308. I like it and it's good for the price, but heard it's not good over 1000 yards. It is a little bulky also.

Max of 300 yds, for now.

Haven't decided on a caliber just yet. I have a .308 so was thinking of going with something different this time.
        Maybe .223, .22-250 .243, 6.5 or 7mm-08.

You don't need a ton of adjustment for that. I'd focus on glass clarity.

            Obvious post is Obvious...

I'm not worried about any scope not having enough adjustment, I'm asking about the quality of the scopes I mentioned. Optical clarity, accuracy of adjustments, construction of scope, reticle selections for each model, overall opinions or reviews, pros, cons, etc...

I've only used the millet that was on a friends rifle and i found it fairly decent but I would easily take a Bushnell Elite series in that price range. No farther than you are wanting to shoot you don't really need any fancy reticle or Target turrets.

Nice. You ask questions, someone gives you information that you may or may not be familiar with and you become a mouthy fuck.

Check out the used/demo scopes that SWFA has on www.samplelist.com
I bought a few from them recently for really good prices so that I could afford a better scope for the money. They were all 'Demo-B' condition and 2 out of 3 didn't have any blemishes at all. The 3rd just had ring marks. Glass was perfect on all of them.
You can also use a coupon code 'THF8' to get 8% off to offset the tax since they are in TX.

                    Mouthy Fuck?

Yes, I'm a complete newb and know nothing about scopes. You can tell by the fact that I have used plenty of different scopes and am asking for feedback on particular scopes. I didn't ask anywhere in any of my posts about how much adjustment I need to shoot to 300 yds. Asked about feedback on particular scopes in my post, even one asking about the clarity of the scope, and I get a response to not worry about adjustment and focus on clarity.

So now, instead of providing anything useful to a post, you just clutter it up with your worthless opinion, as usual! And you want to call me a mouthy fuck? Take a look in the mirror, Dipshit!

Absolutely. So even if you are asking a basic "what scope should I use" question everyone is supposed to be familiar with your level of knowledge, and of not, you will be sure to tell them in a mouthy fuckish way. Got it.
The difference in my mouthiness is I am not asking questions and depending on help, and do not become an ungrateful cock sucker if someone states something I may already know. I'm glad Yale posted that because I don't know shit about scopes. It helps me out and maybe others who are interested in this subject.

So, what you're saying is you're a pussy and afraid to ask about things you have no knowledge of and instead wait to see if someone, by chance, posts some info to which you might not have any knowledge of and then call someone else mouthy because that info, to which you did not already know, has nothing to do with the question the OP asked and the OP points it out. Got it! Carry on trolling for info pussy...
