I posted the ad mainly because of the quantity.. He has 60 mags.. So it is pretty obvious that he bought them solely to re-sell. reminds me of all of the ticket agencies and scalpers out there. They are basically speculators, and they are the biggest culprits in running up product demand, which in turn runs up the pricing. Same problem with commodities like oil.

People are either perfectly happy to pay those prices or he's not going to sell them at that price, so what's the problem?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree with you. That's what capitalism is all about. Doesn't mean I like it, but that is certainly his option. That is the same reason I never call out people that appear to be 'gouging' in the classifieds.

I already sold a basic lower for $500, it's pretty crazy right now.

I had a LOL moment last night, I put up an ad to trade some lowers for an LR308 upper. I had a guy tell me he wants to trade, I call him and ask him what he has. He has a basic LR308 with 24" barrel. He said he would not sell me the BCG or the CH, it was just for the barrel "because those are hard to find.", so it's just the barrel, hand guard, and upper receiver. I offered him a complete AR15 lower to see what he said. He got super butt hurt, it was pretty hilarious. So I asked him how many he wanted for it, he told me he didn't know. So I asked him how he planned on trading if he didn't even know what he wanted to trade for? He was a blathering idiot, nothing he said was making any sense. I think he expected all 5 of my lowers for his stripped upper. He kept acting all snotty and butt hurt, basically a complete jackass. Anyways, I was just searching and I found his ad:

He's asking $5,000 for an entry level DPMS gun, and in his ad he says he's "i'm not hurting for money, not in the least" even though it appears he's using 2 boxes for a table, and what looks like an air mattress. Sometimes I just have to laugh at people.

Right.. The market will bear what the market will bear. I don't like it, but that is the way it is. That is one of the trade offs of believing in and supporting an open market.

Unfortunately for those that "have to have it", you could probably get that with the way things are right now.

Right now you're seeing a lot of people asking asinine prices but they are not selling at those prices. What people are asking and what people are paying are two completely different things. Me and some friends couldn't unload an AR-15 for $1,500 at a few of the gun shows. I've had a few AR15's which are pretty decent guns for sale and just haven't had any real buyers that the kinds of prices people are asking. It's a hell of a lot more than it use to be, no doubt.

Its one thing if you have the stuff already and make some money off it, but when you clothes line the entire shelf of products into your basket, go home and relist for triple, yes I have a problem with that. The reason there is shortage is because of douches like him.
