A buddy of mine ordered one of these mounts for his S&W AR 15 but said he is having trouble mounting it onto his rifle. Is there some sort of trick to it?

I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure UTG isn't the best available stuff, so my guess is it could just be poorly made. -
I have two of those mounts, the tall and mid rise. UTG can be hit or miss, but both of mine lock down tight, and have a nice fit and finish.

He can't get it to slide on the rail. Do you just loosen it & slide it on because if so it doesn't slide all the way on. It gets held up by that screw or whatever you call it on the side. Is the screw suppose to come all the way out or just back it off a little to get the mount to open up?Comment

It shouldnt slide I don't believe. Most of those screws run straight through and will fall between the ridges of the rail.Comment

Yeah, it cant possibly slide. You loosen it (dont take it apart), and drop it over the rail where you want it, and tighten.Comment
