The way I read it is anything with a detachable mag will be affected. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it though.

I realize its probably too early to tell, but the article states that transfers would be stopped. Is that the shortened version for "stopping the gun show loophole"? If we wanted, we could still sell our prebans through an FFL, is that correct?

I read that shortly after the first AWB, uppers minus the evil features and 'things that go up' started showing up for sale. Do y'all think something similar might take place? Maybe more smooth side upper builds?

Also, would our 30 round magazines be grandfathered, or would we have to convert them to 10 rounds?

Actually they put up a pretty big fight in Canada regarding the registration. Bill C-19 was passed for the removal of the gun registration and destruction of all records. The province of Quebec filed a motion and a temporary injunction was granted to delay the destruction of records. As of today the registration in Canada is believed to have cost $2bil+ dollars.

The owners worked the system and now have a conservative govt looking to open up the firearms ownership in Canada.

If it is a no transfer AWB, they'd have to register them to keep track. Have a time frame amnesty and if it's not registered, its contraband. If they chose this route, they should just NFA them.

In Canada, one had to pay for registration of firearms (to offset govt expenses). So many owners waited until the last moment to submit paper work that they flooded the govt system. They had year long amnesty extensions every so many years. The gun owners made the country spend $2 billion in expenses, that every Canadian was pissed at the amount of money spent. That was with a gun owner population of probably a 1/3 of Texas' population on the high end estimate. If they tried it with the entire US, it would be a fucking nightmare.
