I have several 47's already. I like that the 5.45 is cheaper, but unfortunatly on the flipside mags are more expensive.

Posted on a couple boards asking about the financial viability of building just one or two of these, and damn near EVERYONE was like "fuck no run for the hills" kind of attitude. You MUST have mills and presses and all sorts of other bling tools to build one. Did a little searching and found this:

I'm gonna give it a shot. If I can find someone local that has a press or drill I'll be game, but otherwise I think I can handle this kind of build!

Yeah, but who care? it's a damn AK. I have never cleaned my mosin nagant, ever. (if I decide to sell it, it's cleaned religiously).

Plus a 12 ton press, riveting jig, tack welder, torch, go-no go headspace gauges, drill and drill bits. But there's room to improvise with the AK.

Can someone please post links of what would be the cheapest and easiest way to build an ak-47? I see other links posted but they require a ton of machining. Im a newb to AK type rifles.

From my understanding it doesn't have to go to an FFL since it's a blank. It falls under the Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, an unlicensed individual may make a "firearm" as defined in the GCA for his own personal use, but not for sale or distribution. You can legally build it without any intent to sell it.''

If you're building an ak47 I'm pretty sure you'll want the AKM receiver set, center support, and gas piston rivet sets. I haven't built one but I believe that's the correct combo, someone correct me if i'm wrong.

There was a guy on the old board who made some kick ass ak's from the battle field pick ups.
