  • Anyone using nickel boron bcg's in their ar's?

Sounds good in theory but they are pricey. I have no real world experience with them so I was wondering if any of you do and are they all that?

I plan on buying one, I have seen a few but I like the Phase 5 carrier and plan on picking one up soon. Most of the reviews I have read state no real difference, but the science behind the coating doesnt lie. Way more friction resistant than chrome and you don't even have to oil it, though I still would.

Anyways, about 60 to 80 more than a regular carrier in the current market, I would go ahead and go all out. Going to happen anyways eventually, buying better parts, might as well save yourself the trouble and go ahead and get it.

Hell no. If I wanted a high dollar setup, it'd be a crazy low-mass JP setup, and an adjustable gas block to go with it. If I can keep a regular BCG clean and operating, I don't want to add anything unless it helps me shoot better.

A friend has one and likes it, but he hasn't put many rounds through it to actually test the claims.

From what I understand you want a NB BCG in a AR that fires corrosive ammo (5.45x39 surplus) as it resists corrosion.

Or just clean it real good afterwards.

                  I own this one

Just built it yesterday in my 300 blackout. The directions say to use little to no oil. The surface will break in and become even more slick.

When I was at the gun show a few weeks ago I saw a guy from CCC Tactical (somewhere down south) who had a 300 Blackout AR from http://legionfirearms.com/ as well as the 2011 in .45cal. Both were sweet and gave me a bad case of the "do wants". I am pretty sure all there stuff is NiB-X coated and you can buy the BCG separate from them coated as well. I am 99% sure they are based in Texas too, but can't find it on their website.

why not? near oil less and easier to clean... sounds like a winner to me.

It depends on the price. When the fail zero bolts first came out they were 100+ more than a standard bolt, didn't make much sense to me. But, you still clean the bcg as frequently as you would normally, it just doesn't seem like it does a whole lot, as I wouldn't actively seek one. If they are $150 that's worth it, but much more than that I don't see the reason.

I gotcha, the way I see it if I am already in it $150 I might as well throw down another $50 and get the best.

$200 bcg? That's about twice the price of what you can get them for. I think red-x sells their bcg for $100.
