  • nagant rifle fired 3ft from my head. no ear plugs!

Was at the the range yesterday. I forgot to put my ear plugs back in. The guy next to my shot off one round from a nagant. I quickly put my plugs in but was exposed to one shot

Now my right ear is still ringing. More like a buzzing sound.
From what I've been told so far not much a doctor can do.
just wanna know if this has happened to one of y'all. And how long did your ear buzzing last???

Without my gun hobby. I would cut off my own dick and let the rats eat it...

I slapped the water hard on my right ear, summer before last wake boarding. It hurt like hell for a while, had ringing, and had a feeling like water on the ear moving around. I still get the water on the ear feeling from time to time pretty bad and it never seems to completely go away. As far as the ringing, is expect it to pass.

I shot a full magazine of .45 from my 1911 without hearing protection and i had a ringing and softness in my ears (like putting your hand over a speaker). Lasted 24 hrs but my hearing came "back" and the softness went away. I still get a ringing in my ears if im dehydrated.

I will say this though, you have lost some hearing. Loud noises steal hearing over time in a gradual way. You may have lost less than 1% but it is gone and doesnt return.

Its also why i always use Ear protection with the microphones. I leave them on all the time when at the range and behind the firing line. Only take them off down range when cold.

I went threw about 17 rounds of a 223 Ar-15 with out ear protection once, was trying to be a "big man" and shoot the whole mag, but wussed out at the 17 mark. Hurt for a few days. But went away.

Whatever frequency the ringing is, that's the last time you'll hear in that frequency again.

My dad shot a few rounds from his AK. About twenty years ago. Again i forgot the plugs. And it was at an indoor rang. It fucked my up bad for about 4hrs. But the damn nagant was 5x worse and this was an outdoor range. That's why im afraid to shot mine.

No need to double up, but it wouldn't hurt anything. I just recently purchased a GOOD set of plugs and they are AWESOME. I've never had discomfort during or after firing. A lot of times when I shoot I'm around gunfire for 8 plus hours. I got a set of the molded ones at a gun show. A little weird to have done, but I'm so glad that I did it though. They cost me 80 bucks, I had what they call filters installed in them so that I can hear range commands and speech with them in. If you don't need to hear that stuff, you can get them for about 20 bucks cheaper.

I did have one instance that kind of "talked" me into getting a good set of plugs. I went skeet shooting, probably shot 200 or so shells and when I was done, I couldn't hear out of my right ear. Just a very loud ringing. I guess that my plug wasn't fitting correctly. I noticed that it was ringing when I was shooting, but didn't think it was too bad. It took 2 days for my ear to stop ringing, and slowly through the week my hearing returned to normal.

So.... I think that my $80 pair of ear plugs have been a good investment.

These are the ones i have :

Browse a huge inventory of 2,778 Gear including Tactical Gear, Range Gear, Gun Cases & Storage, Safety Gear, Targets and more!

If i turn off the electronic they are very effective. I have an audio in port so i can hook my ipod up at the range or my directional microphone when i'm in the stand. Its pretty trick, very happy with them.
