      That's a big reason why I don't use muffs.

Not all slim form are made alike, i agree - i much prefer muffs for comfort but finding a set for rifle use was a challenge. I have a fatboy set but only use it for guests when pistol shooting.

Yeah, I went through several low cost muffs, and then switched to some $20 plugs that worked for a while. Until that one day at the skeet range, lol. In their defense, I never tried the Peltor low pro ones. I've heard good things.

Shot off a entire mag from the front seat of my truck. It's a ported barrel and slide. My ears rang for a week. I would never again even fire it without hearing protection ever again. It will go away just sucks. I couldn't even hear people talking at dinner that night.

Done it with a .40 when i forgot hearing protection one time. Now I keep my glove box packed full of ear plugs just in case.

I just don't see how people in combat handle it.

How do ground troops overseas handle it on the front lines?

I imagine auditory exclusion plays a part.

Hearing damage is the number one combat injury.

My grandfather fired 175mm howitzers in Vietnam without hearing protection. Over half his vocabulary is a variation of, "what?"

I did a mag dump with an automatic HK G3 into an airstream trailer one time, no hearing protection. The moment I started firing I realized I didn't have ears on, I just buried one ear into my shoulder and bared down. I don't remember the ringing lasting for too long. Last year I shot my 10mm delta from the driver seat of my jeep, that rang too, but went away after an hour or so, if that. Either I'm already deaf or I haven't experienced the loudness you guys have. Being inside an enclosure makes it 2x as worse though. If you're hunting in a field, a 16" or 20" AR15 isn't that loud at all, I've shot them many times with no ears out in a field. And 12 gauge's I never wear ears when hunting (who does?). I know that Nagant @ 3ft was loud as shit, and it would have been 2x as worse if it was an M44.

My ears are garbage. Crowded room, unless I'm looking at you, I won't understand anything you're saying.

They're constantly ringing and occasionally get a numbness and complete deafness in one ear.

My ears have been ringing since 2006 thanks to an All That Remains concert. Whenever I shoot I use surefire ear plugs which are dirt cheap AND Howard Leight lectronic muffs.
