  • P22 issue

Bought this p22 march/april of 09, 1st and only owner. Bought it for the now wife, she decided she didnt really like it so it went to the back of the safe. All in all has less than 1500 rounds down the barrel. Pulled all the toys today to clean/oil. First thing i noticed as i was clearing the p22 was the scratch along the barrel, how i never noticed it before amazes me. so i pull the slide and noticed this.

    and this

Can someone recommend me a good gunsmith in the South DFW area? im located in midlothian so the closer the better.

I would assume this is something Walther/S&W would cover under warranty? I know they had alot of problems a few years back with the slides cracking. I dont think this falls under "normal wear and tear" by any means.

Btw - sorry for pic quality, all i had handy was my iphone.

The p22's slide cracking issues are mostly from long term metal fatigue, you usually see that after 10k+ rounds, less if run with a suppressor. I assume you're talking about the gouges in the slide races? On a p22 the slide is aligned by the barrel lockup, how tight is the barrel nut on the muzzle?

Cj - the barrel nut is still (in theory) as it left the factory, as I've never messed with it. This is a DE/AI 5 inch model, 0805xx sn if that makes any difference.
