  • 1911 mags?

All i got for my Colt is one COlt mag... What should I buy? Mec-Gar or Wilson?
Love to get quite a few but need them to be reasonably priced for quantity (like 4-6. nothing crazy) I want reliable, smooth function mags that also wont wear out if loaded for a long periods of time? I heard WC's spring will get weak after alot of use...

Wilson, Tripp Research (probably the best out there), Chip McCormick...Checkmate might be good (I have no experience, I hear they make the Colt mags), Kimber pro-tac

All springs get weak after so much use. That being said, all my guns, except aks and ars get factory mags.

There's constantly GI mags at gun shows for cheap. I run those in all my 1911s. Never failed yet.

True but feeding the Wilson mags is so buttery smoother compared to the cheap GI mags. I'm sure there not any more or less reliable but I buy it for this fact alone.

A promag mag? You got lucky. Either that or you have a 1911 that isn't picky.

Promag isn't exactly known for making decent mags haha. I usually don't care about "name brands" but when it came to the the 1911s I owned the "expensive" mags were the ones that worked all the time no matter what.

Promag gets a hit every now and then. Their Saiga .308 mags are the only decent ones available for instance, but by and large they're caught swinging. For my GI guns I use the GI mags like David suggested.

I loved all my Wilson mags, and my factory Springfield mags never gave me so much as a hiccup, either. FWIW, if you ever have problems with a 1911 mag, rebuilding them with Wilson or Tripp or another premium parts house's stuff is literally as cheap and easy as all my ex-girlfriends.

Their Saiga 12 10 round mags work fine after the plastic is trimmed/shave to properly fit/engage the gun.
