I have firearms coverage under my renters insurance. No appraising here just a 250 dollar deductible via USAA. Yearly premium is 140 dollars for the whole renters policy.

I can assure you it isn't covering much. Most will need a rider or a separate policy.

USAA uses a third party, and it's more or less a stated value policy. They bundle the premium together, though, and it's pretty cheap compared to a lot of places.

Firearm coverage tops out at 5000 dollars (2000 in the event of a theft) though USAA. That's more than enough to cover the weapons I have where I'm renting my place. For others that wouldn't be nearly enough.
