  • Iron Sights For AR

Whats the best bang for the buck on Iron sights? TIA

I would go beat the fuck out of all of them within an inch of their life, then fuck their chihuahua while they watch as they get loaded into the ambulance

Do you just need a rear one or do you want a front and rear?

Do you plan on mounting optics as well?

What are you going to use the sights for, will they be your primary sights for a while?

How much are you willing to spend?

    How important is durability?

      $300 Budget

      Troy Battle Sights
      Samson mfg battle sights

      $200 Budget

Matech rear sight, standard metal front sight.

~$100 Budget you basically have two polymer options:

Magpul MBUS - slick looking, they work, multiple color options. Usually a set will go for $100-150

A.R.M.S. #71L - relative newcomer to polymer sights, but they bring credentials with their government contracts. $65 shipped on amazon.

I've usually bought more expensive sights, but as of late I've needed a less expensive option just to put sights on my guns, if you have a few ar15's than some troy sights are great, but if you have 10 then it's better to have something than nothing. I bought those #71L's and I was really impressed. You can see pictures of them in the adams arms/sbr threads. I took them shooting this past weekend and was able to ring a steel plate @ 200yds with a 7.5" barrel. That's impressive. They also have a lot of really neat features - such as within 50' sighting, 100yd peep, and long range peep. That's nice to have. When you mess with them they seem a little flimsy, but they work great. the reviews are good all around, just don't strip out the nut, it's stupid easy to do.

I just went with the carry handle / FSB on my KISS carbine. More than accurate enough for anything I will ever shoot under irons.

those mount to an HK sight base, you'd have to weld it on and do a bunch of stuff.

BUT, now that you mention it that's a really interesting idea. I wonder if they make a standard steel picatinny mount I could weld an HK base to and install a drum sight, and I have a few spare ghost rings I could cut and weld up for a front sight.

Oh shit that's totally new, I've never seen it before. Great deal. That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking of doing. Yeah definitely buy those if you don't need flip up sights, or sights that will cowitness. I can't view the page from work so I assumed he was talking about the standard HK drum sights.

I just need a rear I did a trade and the rifle only came with the standard metal front sight.

                  No optics.

They will be my primary sights, and only thing I'll use the rifle for is the range and some wild hog hunting.

Buy a carry handle. Affordable, sturdy, easy to adjust, and functional.

You might want to reconsider iron sights for hog hunting. Since 90% of the time you're hunting hogs at night. DSA has a cheap carry handle which has a standard A2 rear sight block.

LOL, you should have mentioned you needed only a rear sight. Get a MATech rear sight. Cheap and work great.
