There is no stamp on the barrel indicating whether it is 5.56 or not. How else can I figure it out?

A little research has indicated that the difference between the two versions is the throat, or "leade", space... the 5.56 chambered barrel throat is almost twice the length of that of the .223. Trouble is I'm not real clear on what is considered the throat.

has to be stamped somewhere on that barrel. Or some firing/proofing marks."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler
