Using small tubing or a CNC Machined piece would be ideal.

Looks like I need to go back out and get a 1/2" piece.

A CNC machined piece, a few bolts/nuts and you have a sellable kit.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

My auto/semi selector. Rotating pulls the pin up out of the notches in the buffer. I'm not going to completely remove the material between notches, i'm only going to mill it down halfway. This way it can only travel between the two notches in auto, but still be able to lock down.

          ACE Hardware had the following:
          1/2" x 1/8" (thick) steel in a 4ft section
8-32 x 3/16" set screw to capture the safety detent and spring in the reciever
          8-32 tap
#8-3/4" allen button bolts and nuts

What they didn't have that I still need is the 1/8" steel ball bearing for the safety. Instead I used a 5/32" but I am not happy that I had to open the receiver up that last 1/32" to get it to work.

The 1/2" steel band fits the MIAD perfectly. Now I just need to bend it and drill the bolt holes out.

            Thanks for the parts list.

Couple questions. When you bent your last metal band, did you use heat? Secondly, did use use any kind of template. I was thinking about setting the stock in the third position and bending a metal coat hanger to use as a template. The third position should give a decent length of pull and still reset the trigger correct?

Looks really good. Are you able to test the "slidyness" of the setup yet? As far as friction and freedom of reciprocation.

The "slidyness" is directly proportionate to how much you grind/sand the opening of the pistol grip and the materal between the two stock position holes.

Mine slides with a little bit of resistance but I am still not finished and I am looking for that perfect dremel bit to help me work on the buffer tube some more. Had I had a mill and the right bit; the buffer tube would have taken 5 minutes instead of the hour or so I spent on it.

Still need to pull it apart, cut the steel bar and paint it. Maybe I can test fire it Friday.

if you have made that why do you need to mill buffer tube ??

I'm not completely milling the tube. I only milled down about 2mm, so the holes in the buffer are still usable.

Yeah, get dirty with that tube, you dirty bastard. Looks like it works really well. And it doesn't look like shit (see slidefire).
