What's the difference between
This $299
DETAILS
Barrel: A proprietary blend of Hammer forged chrome molly vanadium made by FN that is referred to as "Machine Gun Steel" by virtue of its required use in FN's M249 and M240 weapons. The hammer forging process work hardens the steel, making it more durable. In addition, the chrome process for the bore allows for a lining almost twice as thick as a standard M16 for enhanced durability. Chambered in 6.8 SPCII, with a 1/11" twist, M4 barrel extension, and a Mid-length gas system. The A2 profile barrel is Mil-spec phosphate coated, High Pressure tested and Magnetic Particle inspected. Barrel is finished off with an F-marked front sight post with sling swivel, standard handguards and an A2 flash hider.
Upper: Forged 7075-T6 A3 AR upper is hard coat anodized black for durability. Featuring T-marks, but no logo, these upper upper receivers are made for us right here in the USA.

I can obviously read the difference but do not know what barrel characteristics would build a better shooting rifle.

I stay away from the proprietary ar15 calibers. But it is a good deal."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I am asking if the price separates the quality. It seems like they should be charging more for the 18" barrel version since it's more material.

I think 6.8 is a good cartridge, it's probably the best compromise cartridge for the AR15 if you don't reload. If you reload, in my opinion, the .300 BLK offers more. Both are excellent though."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

The 6.8 was designed around a 14" barrel and you really will not see great improvements once you get over 16" barrel. I just purchased the 16" with the FN barrel over the 18" stainless since I hunt in vehicles with mine. 2" longer makes a huge difference swinging that thing around...talking about the gun.

Rumor is these 6.8 barrels are made by Wilson. $280 is a good deal seeing as just the barrel typically goes for just $10 less

I have a group buy LPK/receiver from PSA. I ordered a 16" 6.8 spcII upper from PSA.
Where do I need to look for affordable 6.8 parts? Im trying to keep the build under $600 before optics. That being said, I want it to cycle properly and operate safely. So If I need to throw some more money at it I don't mind.
I already researched magazines and decided Ill stick with PRI waffle mags. Any input is highly appreciated.
