Next time im down ill hunt Texas or Arkansas. The route i take puts me right in greenville where i grew up. Then another 3 hours to magnolia Arkansas to visit my mother.
Greenville is a good 3hrs southeast of me, I hear they have a healthy hog population though. I have a aunt and cousins that live up in Hot Springs Arkansas they never have mentioned pigs but I'm sure they're up there.

From the statistics I've read Texas has more hogs than the rest of the country combined, I honestly have no idea why that is since it seems like it would be the least hospitable. At the lease this year, just 1 year without people hunting them the population has gone off like a nuclear bomb. Last week I saw 100 hogs in the field, we just fired a full auto burst into them at 200 yards and took down two. Hell, we had hogs running in front of the truck just driving to and from the dove fields.

I wouldn't be opposed to that but it's against our lease rules to let other people hunt. I don't exactly agree since pigs are included, they are a pain in the ass and need to be exterminated. I'm also a good ways away from the DFW area that most on here are from.
If you ever need someone to come in and help thin those hogs out just holler. I've got a couple of friends that do night hunts with night vision scopes and AR's that would love to take down a whole bunch of hogs like what you posted the picture of. Distance is no matter for us.
I don't use NV my scope is really good in low light and I prefer to sit back a good ways to pick them off. That aspect should be easier before too long since I'll be ordering a suppressor for the bolt gun.

Go internally suppressed My uncle bought one from these guys http://www.fullysuppressed.com/index.html a couple years ago. I shot a Fallow doe in the head with it and the bullet hitting it's skull was louder than the shot itself, it was amazingly quiet and not a bit of recoil. After that I was sold, I met with them while I was in Coleman dove hunting a couple weeks ago and bought one for myself. While I was down there we shot a lot of the rifles they build including a internally suppressed, SR-22, .300 Blackout and .223. They run a great operation down there.
I'm no carpenter but the below is my stand in progress. I cemented in the legs cause last one was stolen. Hope it dosnt topple over when completed. Lol
It's amazing how much force the wind puts on those double sized stands.
we have a few but they are built over tree stumps and tied down to the stump tight to prevent the wind from blowing them over.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

I have too much invested in my barrel to have it cut down like that, but a integral suppressed .300 upper has been on my mind for A while.

Integrally suppressed really has no advantages on supersonic rounds. The only real advantage is when OAL is a necessity. Even if the rifle makes no sound it all it's still loud as shit. Not to mention it's 1 suppressor you can't use on anything else. I think it's a much better idea to get a separate .30 cal can that you can use any on AR15, AK47, bolt gun, etc.

Well, sure with supersonic rounds, I dont get why people even bother with supersonic ammo through supressors, it defeats the purpose, unless you are just plinking. I got a Gemtech can that I bought first thinking that I would move it from rifle to rifle and its never left the first rifle I put it on, but I know a lot of people that do so I understand that thought process.
I just wanted to throw an option out there versus a screw on can.

Shooting subsonic you're going to delivery 33% of the original energy. The only way to gain any of that lost velocity back it is to hand load extremely large bullets, then your range is like 200 yards or so, much more limited. Which is why a .300blk is the only cartridge that really makes sense for that, as the case is the proper volume to allow for accuracy. Shooting a rifle with supersonic ammo with a can on it will make it safe without hearing protection, but the bullet will still make it loud as hell. It also prevents you from getting blinded at night by the muzzleflash.
SAS makes the Covert suppressor for Accuracy International rifles, which screws onto the muzzlebrake and it works extremely well, and keeps the rifle at 20".

If you get to help, I want some!
I think I'm going to go set up some cameras and feeders before fall really hits. My Dad stopped the hunters from hunting on our land many years ago, and we get several deer that hang around on the property. We have a metric fuck ton of persimmon trees, and they love those things. We put feed out for the deer and turkeys when we are up there, but he just enjoys the wildlife and doesn't hunt. I do too, But I still want to hunt. I've been wanting to set up some game cameras for some time though.
