I'm not a 9mm guy, but before we deployed we would fire a minimum of 400 rounds (about 700 on mon and tues) for 5 days. My beretta never jammed one time, I was around about 20 others firing just as much and say very very few malfunctions.

Never owned one but shot a few including the Taurus PT92. Shoots good but never liked them, the grip is to big and the gun is to heavy for what it is. I would prefer a Glock or an XD and I'm kinda leaning towards an M&P for my next gun in 9mm.

IIRC, you can take a beretta 96 and swap in a 92 barrel. then you have a 9mm and a .40. someone recommended that to me once upon a time anyways.

i was in the market for a full size 9mm for target shooting last year.
shot the sig p226. it is great, i really liked it.
i never shot a 92, just fingered several. i have a feeling i would like it.
shot adam's tanfoglio. that thing rocks. i'm going to eventually get a 10mm witness elite eventually.
i wound up buying a springfield xdm 5.25 comp. it is quite excellent.

I agree with DOHCTR. I really like my Beretta 92A1 and it's my wife's favorite gun to shoot. I've added the "D" hammer spring to lighten the DA pull slightly and ditched the polymer captive guide rod for a standard 92FS stainless guide rod.

Overall it's a great range / home defense gun. Here's mine with the Mec-Gar 20 round mag. I still need to get a TLR-1s light for the rail.



With that said, you also can't go wrong with a Sig p226 or CZ-75. I love my Sigs and have shot the CZ and hope to add both of these to the collection eventually.

I don't know the weight, but the SA is short and light with little to no creep. DA is long, but light(ish), and smooth. Of course on armory drawn weapons, it can be hit and miss (no pun intended). I did get a few that were just jacked up.
Other than being big and not having much stopping power with ball ammo, I was pleased enough with them. Years ago, I had a Taurus 92AFD, and it was very much like the M9-92FS. Qualifying "Expert" in one try was a breeze with the random M9 I usedm so accuracy is more than ok.


All of that being said, if I was going to spend my own money for a new, full-sized 9mm, I would get this and never look back...

I had a Taurus pt92 and loved the feel and accuracy. I have also shot a beretta as well. I like Taurus' safety placement better but for both of those guns, I HATE the exterior trigger mechanism!!! I'm a lefty shooter, and I shoot my pistols all the same, with both thumbs lined up with eachother along the frame. With a beretta/Taurus, the mechanism is there where my thumbs would go... I was having mechanical issues with the pistols due to my thumbs dragging on it. I had to tuck my thumbs in to fire it properly. I'm a creature of habit so that really effed with me to not do as I am use to.

Sig is a great and reliable gun and very expensive IMO. If u have followed my few posts about Sigs Ull know I don't care for em. Straight out of the box (granted this was a non-railed DA/SA 226 .40) the trigger reset is faint and has a bit of creep. I'm very accurate with it but the above stated and the fact that ALL the controls are on the left back side of the frame/slide bothers me. Lefty .
Any CZ is a brilliant gun to shoot. Love the feel, accuracy, and reset. Great pistols! I am unfortunately for some a Glock fan. I also lIke 1911's and XD models. Oh and anything revolver!

I have both a 92F and 92FS. The difference is that the FS has a pin with large head that keeps the slide from flying off should the locking block break completely. I highly recommend you try one out and see if it fits the way you prefer. They are reliable, easy to disassemble and clean, plus plenty of parts available. They are heavy, but if you are also a 1911 guy like me then it may not bother you. As far as the triggers, they are not the best but a Wolf trigger conversion ($20) and "D" Hammer spring ($6) will really clean it up and the parts can be had through Brownells.
