So, I decided to run some rounds through the 7.5" .223 SBR upper. I inserted a 20 round magazine, and on the 19th round it jammed and I couldn't remove the charging handle. Once I finally pried it open, this is what I found.
I spent quite a bit of time looking over the failure trying to figure out what happened. My gas block was tight against the barrel, it had not walked or moved in any direction. I checked it before hand and spent quite a while making sure it was aligned perfectly. The op rod contacted the middle center of the bolt, then it began to bend/walk up the bolt carrier until it bent over the top and jammed the rifle. Both the bolt and the op rod are ruined. I will have to cut the op rod in half to remove it.
I did some google searching and I found several people that have had the same problem, some attribute it to not having the gas block aligned, and some to not have it seated all the way. I definitely did not have these issues so I'm lost. That's 19 rounds. I'll talk to AA about it tomorrow.
